Director and Teacher
Rebecca Crawford Harman is a director, teacher, choreographer, and entrepreneur dedicated to sharing the transformative power of dance. Her journey began with training at Ruth Mitchell Dance Theatre, Atlanta Ballet, and the Kirov Academy of Ballet on scholarship, leading to a professional career with Miami City Ballet, American Repertory Ballet, and Ballet Arizona. These experiences shaped her artistic vision and commitment to nurturing creativity, discipline, and growth in the next generation of dancers.
In 2016, Rebecca founded Neighborhood Ballet. A vibrant and quickly growing school, Neighborhood Ballet has a student body of over six hundred students. In 2021, she founded the non-profit youth dance company, Rise City Dance, where she serves as the artistic director.
In 2023-2024, Rebecca was honored as a School of American Ballet National Visiting Fellow. This prestigious program allowed her to deepen her artistic practice and expand her teaching methodologies through immersive workshops, mentorship, and teaching opportunities. The fellowship continues to influence her work, inspiring innovation in her approach to dance education and leadership.
Rebecca holds a B.A. in History and a Master’s in Heritage Preservation from Georgia State University. A self-taught photographer and avid collector of vintage clothing and antiques, she also completed her RYT 200 certification in 2019.
Residing in Grant Park, Atlanta, with her husband, Steven, and their three children, Rebecca remains committed to empowering others through the arts. Her work is guided by a dedication to light and gratitude in every endeavor.
